TLM Talk to Futuristic Polar Bears
Futuristic Polar Bears have exploded on to the house scene throughout 2011 with releases and remixes for Subliminal Records, 303 Lovers (Hotfingers), Wormland Black, Soundofnow, Pukka Up, Shute, Weekend Millionaires and collaborations with Jay C, Ralph Good, Pete Doyle, Sonny Wharton and Jonathan Ulysses amongst others.
Their weekly Radio show on Manchester Global radio is now syndicated globally on various radio stations and attracts a weekly audience of 40,000 and more stations are picking up the show and the numbers are growing weekly. Guest mixes have come from some of the best names in the scene including Stonebridge, Riley & Durrant, Da Fresh, Marco Lys, Felix Leiter, Gabriel & Castellon, Ridney, Remaniax and more, there is no shortage of DJ’s lining up to be featured on the show.
Their label imprint Polar Bear Music is into its sixth release with some big tracks lined up for the future.
We think 2012 will be the year of the Bear and spent some time with The Bears, had a few beers and talked some music.
What music past or present do you draw inspiration from?
We take inspiration from all kinds of music. Its important to listen all styles, It keeps your mind fresh and creativity flowing!!!
If you could remix any classic house track which one would you choose?
UBP pres Michael Proctor – Fall Down. Proper classic soulful house at its best!!!!!!
You have had a few collaborations already but who would you most like to work with?
We’d love to work with Michael Woods. The guy is a genius in the studio. We’ve had the honour of working with his sister Marcella on a great record we did called “Freedom”
What production software do you use?
Logic 9 all the way
What is your favourite piece of studio kit?
Sylenth for synths. Amazing. UAD Neve package. Great EQ’s.
What do you have planned for the next few months?
We have our debut release on Wormland Black they we are excited about, we also have a remix forthcoming on 303Lovers. Studio wise over the next few months we are working with Peyton, K-Klass and Jason Herd on some exciting collaborations.
What can people expect when they see you live in a club?
Full on high energy house music… Expect to hear lots of exclusive re-edits and bootlegs we make especially for our live shows.
What other artists/producers are really doing it for you at the moment?
Stefano Noferini is on fire, got to see him play @ ADE as well for Toolroom he was amazing. Also loving Matthew Codek, Marco Lys and DJ Chus at the moment
Finally if you all didn’t make music what do you think you would be doing?
Probably would go back to doing live AV work for a media company!!!
